Our Purpose

The Association was inaugurated in the parish in 2013. It is for all who desire to grow spiritually and welcome Christ as King in their homes and hearts.

History

The Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus is a very ancient tradition in the church and was given great impetus in the early seventeenth century by the writings of St. John Eudes and God’s chosen instrument , St. Margaret Mary Alacoque. She received four principal apparitions in which Christ requested the Feast of the Sacred Heart. He commissioned Margaret Mary to spread the Devotion to his Sacred Heart, to encourage the faithful to receive Holy Communion in reparation for the offenses and indifference of men and to offer themselves in consecration to His Sacred Heart.

In 1865, Pope Pius IX yielding to petitions from all parts of Christendom extended the feast to the Universal Church from the initial grant to individual Churches.

Father Mateo was granted permission by Pope Pius X for his project to establish the social reign of the Sacred Heart by first winning the family home for the King of love. He was convinced that because the family is the necessary foundation and the original source of Christian and social vitality, there is no apostolate which can bring about more effectively the reign of the Lord over individuals and collectivities than that which enthroned Him precisely as King of the family. Father Mateo is credited with the enthronement as we have it today, Night adoration in the home, Apostolate of Suffering for the Reign of the Sacred Heart and the League of Tarcisians amongst other apostolic enthronement centers.

Enthronement – is the enthronement of Sacred Heart in the home which is a qualification for solemn admission into the Association.

Night adoration – is an hour of prayer in the home, made in a spirit of reparation, at least once a month, between the hours of 9pm and 6am on any night of your choice. It a Holy hour made in answer to our Lord’s request to His Apostles and St. Margaret Mary, “Watch one hour with Me!”

The twelve promises of the Sacred Heart of Jesus to St. Margaret Mary

Alacoque to families who honor his Sacred Heart are as follows

  1. I will give them all the graces necessary for their state of life.
  2. I will establish peace in their families.
  3. I will bless every house in which the picture of my heart shall be exposed or honoured.
  4. I will console them in their difficulties.
  5. I will be their refuge during life and especially at the hour of death
  6. I will shed abundant blessings upon all their undertakings.
  7. Sinners shall find in my heart a fountain and boundless ocean of mercy.
  8. Tepid souls shall become fervent.
  9. Fervent souls shall rise speedily to great perfection.
  10. I will give to priests the power of touching the hardest hearts.
  11. Those who propagate this devotion shall have their names written in my heart never to be blotted out.
  12. I promise you in the excessive mercy of my heart, that my all powerful love will grant to all who communicate on the first Friday of the month for nine consecutive months the grace of penitence; they shall not die in my displeasure nor without their sacrament. My divine heart shall be their refuge in this last moment.
  13. I will reign through my heart, inspite of satan and his agents.
